Ysrral Contreras

Services are scheduled for 10 am Monday, March 20 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Ysrral G. Contreras of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Contreras, 71, died on March 14, 2023 in Artesia.

Fr. Vijay will officiate at the services with burial to follow at Woodbine Cemetery. Visitation will be at Terpening and Son Mortuary from 2 to 6 pm on Sunday, March 19. A rosary is also scheduled for 9:30 am Monday. Pallbearers will be Robert Aguilar, Ervey Cano, Corina Hernandez, Robert Rodriguez Sr., Casey Munoz Sr., Jake Aguilar, Zeke Cano and Charlie Testillo Jr. Honorary Pallbearers include Robert Rodriguez Jr., Casey Munoz Jr, and Damian Israel Salinas.

Ysrral was born on June 28, 1951 in McNary, Texas; the son of Avelino Contreras and Beatriz Gomez Contreras.

On October 29, 1971 he was married to Nancy Hernandez. He was a longtime resident of Artesia.

Ysrral was a farmer, a truck driver and a roustabout in the the oil field. He enjoyed going camping, trips to the casino and going out to eat. He enjoyed watching old westerns, going dancing with his wife Nancy, visiting and joking around with his friends. His loved spending time with his grandchildren. Whether it was watching them in their activities, helping with their homework, or just hanging around with them he felt like he was one of the "kids".

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Alicia Contreras and Herminia Contreras, and brother Herminio Contreras.

Survivors include his wife Nancy Contreras; a son Michael Contreras; daughters Lisa Rodriguez and husband Robert, Samantha Munoz and husband Casey; brothers Victor Contreras, Sammy Contreras and Ervey Cano; sisters Ann Franco, Judy Chavarria, Rachel Tesillo, Minnie Rodriguez, and Sally Delgado; grandchildren Haley Rodriguez, Robert Rodriguez Jr., Jenessa Rodriguez, Arianny Munoz, and Casey Munoz Jr.
