Wilma Jane King, 84, a longtime resident of Artesia, New Mexico, passed away on Monday, July 12, 2010 in Roswell, New Mexico.
Wilma was born on March 12, 1926 in Winner, SD. She married Richard W. King in 1947 they moved with their children to New Mexico in 1951.
She was an endlessly loving wife, mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother and greatgreat grandmother.
She volunteered for many years at the Artesia General Hospital and Hospital Thrift Store. She relished the time she spent at the Artesia Senior Center listening to music and enjoying the company of friends. She answered the phone with a friendly, Hyello and cheerfully talked the ear off all callers. She kept a spotless and warm home, full of mementos of her family and friends. Her life was characterized by love, loyalty, and resilience.
Her husband, Richard, and her daughter, Linda J. Fiedler, of Los Lunas, NM, preceded her in death.
She is survived by three sons: William A. King and his wife, Patsy, of Roswell, Robert E. King and his wife, Teresa, of Roswell, and James R. King and his wife, Tia, of Albuquerque, NM, as well as three generations of grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters Vivian Black and Vera Peterson.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 16, at Terpening Son Mortuary, 611 W. Grand Ave. in Artesia, NM.
