William Tevis

Services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 24, at First Baptist Church for William Bruce Tevis, 703 W. Bullock Ave., Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Tevis, 64, died Thursday, June 20, 2013 at his home.

Rev. Rick Sullivan will officiate at the services. Cremation will take place following the services under direction of Terpening Son Mortuary. Pallbearers will be Ryan Tevis, Scott Tevis, Tevis Yates, Clark Tevis, Robert Chumbley, and Bill Shelton.

Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary beginning at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Bruce was born September 2, 1948 in Beaumont, Texas the son of Andrew Herring Barnacastle and Christine Azilee Howard Barnacastle. He came to Artesia in April 2000 from Beaumont, Texas.

On July 27, 2002 he was married to Sandy Williams in Artesia.

He was a field manager for West TexasNew Mexico Downstream Chemicals, a member of First Baptist Church, enjoyed golfing, boating, RVing, and rides with First Baptist Church motorcycle group. He received the Phoenix Award in 2008 for sales and outstanding performance in his company, and every Thanksgiving he fried 80 turkeys for familly, friends, and coworkers.

He was preceded in death by his parents Clifford and Lee Tevis, and a sister Joy Utitz.

Survivors include his wife Sandy Tevis of Artesia sons Ryan Tevis and wife Tara of Plano, Texas, Scott Tevis and wife Ashley of Beaummont, Tevis Yates of Ruidoso, New Mexico, and Clark Tevis of Laredo, Texas daughter Tao Chumbley and husband Robert of Artesia and grandchildren Reagen Tevis, Blake Tevis, Taylor Tevis, Baylor Tevis, Tyler Tevis, T.J. Yates, and Lilian Yates.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Culy Hawkins Fund.
