Graveside services are scheduled at 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 25, at Woodbine Cemetery in Artesia, New Mexico for Weldon Albert Permenter, 118 Birch Drive, Ruidoso, New Mexico. Gene Reneau will officiate at the services. Mr. Permenter, 71, died Thursday, March 21, 2002 in Artesia. Weldon was born February 17, 1931 in Coleman County, Texas; the son of Otis Vernon Permenter and Velma Samantha Peek Permenter. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps. On March 12, 1957 he was married to Mary Jane LeGrand in Carlsbad, N.M. He moved to Ruidoso in 1998 from Hobbs, N.M. where he had resided since 1962. He was a pumper for Atlantic-Richfield for 26 years and member of the Baptist denomination. He served on the Board of Directors for West Texas-New Mexico Atlantic Federal Credit Union in Denver City, Texas; enjoyed working in his yard and making wooden trains and windmills; and was a faithful blood donor. He was preceded in death by his parents; and by two brothers and one sister. Survivors include his wife Mary Jane Permenter of Ruidoso; daughters Patti Ann Mitchell and husband Joe of Jal, N.M. and Lynda Duncan and husband Tim of Artesia; brothers R. H. Permenter of Big Spring, Texas, Jerry Permenter of Clarendon, Texas and Dewey Donald Permenter of Amarillo, Texas; a sister Velma Lou Pinkerton of Midland, Texas; and grandchildren Timothy Dewayne Duncan and Mark Alan Duncan both of Artesia, and Jennifer Lynn Mitchell and George Wayne Mitchell both of Jal.
