Services are scheduled at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 11, at First Baptist Church for Watson Kendrick, Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Kendrick, 88, died Monday, December 9, 2002 at his home. Rev. Rick Sullivan will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jack Butler, Newell Matthews, Kent Whitmire, Vern Bolton, George Chumbley and Glen Waller. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of First Baptist Church and all other friends that have meant so much. Mr. Kendrick was born April 27, 1914 in Chelsea, Alabama; the son of Dolph Kendrick and Cora Harper Kendrick, On March 6,1937 he was married to Burndene Harper in Columbiana, Alabama. He came to Artesia in 1962 from Wattis, Utah. He retired from Amax Chemical and was one of the original employees of Southwest Potash. He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church; recently honored as a 50 year member of Masonic Lodge; he loved to sing in choir and gospel quartets for many years, and loved to fish. He was preceded in death by his parents; and by 3 brothers Melvin Kendrick, Cyrus Kendrick, and Reed Kendrick. Survivors include his wife Burndene Kendrick of the family home; son Tom Kendrick wife Julia of Amarillo, Texas; grandchildren Tara Dustin husband Ross of Austin, Texas, and Royce Kendrick of Amarillo; great-grandchild Amy Dustin of Austin.
