Services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 17, at First Baptist Church in Tucumcari, N.M. for Warren Byron Coughenour of Tucumcari. PMr. Coughenour, 80, died Thursday, May 13, 2004 in Lubbock, Texas. PGraveside services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday at Woodbine Cemetery in Artesia, N.M. His son-in-law, Andrew Payne, will officiate. PMr. Coughenour was born April 27, 1924 in Haswell, Colorado; the son of Clay Webster Coughenour and Hazel Philpott Coughenour. He served in the United States Army during World War II. POn March 11, 1951 he was married to Evelyn Bach in Artesia. PHe was an employee of Mountain Bell Telephone Company; retiring in 1979 after 32 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Tucumcari; Kiwanis International; and the Tucumcari Sams Chapter of Good Sams Club. He served on the board of Dan C. Tripp Hospital; was a volunteer with the fire departments in Artesia and Tucumcari for over fifty years; and volunteered with Little League Baseball for many years. PHe was preceded in death by his parents; Clay Webster Coughenour and Hazel Philpott Coughenour Ryan; brothers Orland Coughenour and Gerald Coughenour; a sister Arline Coughenour Ward; and by a grandson Matthew McCord. PSurvivors include his wife Evelyn Coughenour of Tucumcari; daughters Cindy Payne and husband Andrew of Midlothian, Texas and Cathy McCord of Lubbock, Texas; a brother Marvin Coughenour and wife Kay of Cheyenne, Wyoming; brothers-in-law Emil Bach and wife Elizabeth and Albert Bach and wife Wilma all of Artesia; and grandchildren Kurt and Alexandra McCord of Lubbock and Geoffrey and Anna Payne of Midlothian.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Helping Hands Hospice of Tucumcari, 615 S. 2nd St., Tucumcari, NM 88401.
