Wanzie Hilley

Graveside services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 26, at Woodbine Cemetery for Wanzie G. Hilley, of Andrews, Texas. PMrs. Hilley, 75, died Saturday, December 22, 2007 at Lakeridge Nursing Home in Lubbock, Texas. PJerry Lynch will officiate at the services. PVisitation will be at Terpening amp; Son Mortuary Wednesday beginning at 10:00 a.m. PMrs. Hilley was born July 26, 1932 in Kentwood, Louisiana; the daughter of Elmer Griffith and Bessie Delaurghter Griffith. PIn 1948 she married John Terry in Brookhaven, Mississippi. He preceded her in death in 1980. On Jan 28, 1982 she married Ted Hilley in Socorro, N.M. They came to Artesia in 1993. Mr. Hilley preceded her in death July 20, 1998. Wanzie then moved to Andrews in 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son Steve Terry; and a sister Bea Harkins. PMrs. Hilley worked as a Customer Service Manager for Walmart before retiring. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Lovington, N.M, Eastern Star, and the Human Society.
Survivors include her daughter Melissa Terry of Andrews; son John Terry of Hobbs, N.M.; sisters Helen Courtney of Monroe, Louisiana, and Bonnie Strickland of Kentwood; brother Elmer Bud Griffith of San Bernardino, California; eight grandchildren Wesley Terry, John Thomas Terry, John Charles Terry, Farrah Crow, Misty Horn, Julie Pinson, Cathe Bragg, Vanessa Davis; and 12 great-grandchildren.
