Memorial Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 8, 2016, at West Main Baptist Church for Mrs. Wanda Pearl Sisk of Artesia, N.M.
Mrs. Sisk, 84, died Thursday, September 1, 2016 at San Pedro Nursing Facility in Artesia.
Jason Kraft will officiate at the services with burial of the cremated remains to follow at Woodbine Cemetery.
Wanda and her twin sister were born April 23, 1932 in Pecos, Texas to Martin Luther Stiewig and Dovie Lular (Ponder) Stiewig. She was a longtime Artesia area resident.
She loved gardening, researching genealogy and an occasional trip to the casino. She had an amazing sense humor and a private kind of faith that she passed on to her children. She was known for her "wanda-isms" and wit. She was a giver and a problem solver and taught us to laugh. She was madly loved by her grandchildren and children and her beloved dog "Buddy".
She worked for various businesses over the years making many friends. She was a telephone operator for Mountain States Telephone Co.. She worked for Sears, Penney's and Steere Tank Lines. She finished her career working in the electrical engineering department of TMC Bus Co., retiring in 1993.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; infant sister Christina Stiewig; and a grandson John Hay.
Survivors include her daughters Kathy Herrera and husband Mike of Alabaster, Alabama and Sharon Metcalf and husband Jack of Dexter, N.M.; son Ronnie Dunnavant and wife Robin of Artesia; her twin sister Wilhelmina Davidson of Flower Mound, Texas; grandchildren Andrew Hay, Armand Hay, Taylor Johnson, Daniel Laman, Cierra Dunnavant, Lucas Kern, Faith Dunnavant, Ashley Denton, Joshua Hutchins, Clinton Hobbs, Leasa Metcalf, Amanda Mote, Alicia Metcalf, Julie Metcalf, Jessie Metcalf, Anisa Metcalf, and Emillia Metcalf; and great-grandchildren Madison Denton, Sailor Denton, and Vaughn Robles. Two nieces also survive her. Dee Zunker and husband Brian and Kelly Wolgamott and husband David.
The family thanks her caregivers at the San Pedro Nursing Home and Encompass Hospice for their compassion.
