Services for Wanda Janell Apperson will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, at the Hermosa Drive Church of Christ. Roby Zumwalt will officiate at the services with burial at Hagerman Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jeff Harlow, John Harlow, Gus Harlow, Dustin Harlow, Jakoda Mathews, and Jeff Parra. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary beginning at 10:00 a.m. Monday. Wanda Janell Apperson departed this life January 1, 2009, after a long battle with cancer. She was born August 27, 1944 to Bill and Ruth Mathews. She grew up in Hagerman, N.M. She was a loving wife to husband Doug for 48 years. A much loved mother to son Ricky and daughter-in-law Christy. The Greatest Granny to grandsons Shawn and Dale. She especially loved camping with her family, NASCAR racing and football. Janell was an aide for the special needs bus for 15 years, until she was no longer able to work. She dearly loved her kids on the bus, and talked about them often. She is survived by husband Doug of Artesia; a son Ricky and wife Christy of Artesia; two grandsons Shawn and Dale of Artesia; sisters Helen Helton and husband Shocky of Hugo, Oklahoma, and Jan Harlow and husband Chester of Artesia; brother Bill Mathews and wife Marva of Artesia; she is also survived by a large extended family and a cherished group of co-workers and friends.
