Walter Egan

Age 85 of Artesia, went home to Jesus on Sunday, July 19, 2009. Ed married Jesusita Yniguez on April 7, 1982 in Ft. Davis, Texas, and moved to Artesia in 1994. Ed was a Marine, enlisting at age 17, a veteran of World War II and Korea. He was wounded severely and was a former prisoner of war. Ed had several careers, including N.A.S.A., Halliburton and pipefitting. Ed was loved by family, friends and several astronaut families and longtime friend Boots Matthews. Ed loved God, his family, his country, the Dallas Cowboys, catfish and lemon meringue pie. He is survived by his wife Jessie of the home, daughter Dianne Ellis and husband Gary of Yuba City, Calif.; son Martin Yniguez and girlfriend Irene of Carlsbad, N.M.; grandson Wyatt Ellis; granddaughters Lacey Ellis and Ashley Brown. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening Son Mortuary. A memorial service with military honors is pending.
