Memorial graveside services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, at Woodbine Cemetery for Vyron Buddie Strawn, 37 Billy Drive, Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Strawn, 83, died Thursday, May 21, 2009 at his home. Rev. J. B. Craft will officiate at the services. Honorary pallbearers will be all of his friends and family Mr. Strawn was born January 17, 1926 in Crews, Texas; the son of Jodie Stogton Strawn and Parlee Furry Strawn. He came to Artesia in 1967 from Hobbs, N.M. On Feb. 14, 1980 he was married to LaVerne Gotcher in Carlsbad, N.M. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was a Purple Heart recipient. He was a salesman for Union Supply and George Young Sales. He was a member of the Elks Lodge. Anyone can be a father but it takes a special man to be a Dad. Survivors include his wife LaVerne Strawn of the family home; daughters Debbie Dunn and husband Joe of Hobbs, and Beverly Newsom and husband Robin of Artesia; sons Larry Norsworthy and companion Michelle Smith Artesia, and Tim Norsworthy of Artesia; brother J.W. Strawn of Post, Texas; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews including Joyce Foster and Nancy Hoffman of Texas and Gaylynn Devore of Lovington.
