Graveside services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, at the Lake Arthur Cemetery for Doris Vodine Brown of Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Brown, 72, died Sunday, May 17, 2009 at University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. Rev. J.B. Craft will officiate at the services. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary beginning at 12 p.m. Tuesday. Mrs. Brown was born September 24, 1936 in Morton, Texas; the daughter of Carl DePauw and Irene Kennedy DePauw. On October 8, 1953 she was married to Odell Brown in Levelland, Texas. She came to Artesia in 1959 from Levelland. He preceded her in death Nov. 6, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her father; brother Roger DePauw; and a great-grandchild Kacy Williams. Vodine was a hostess for a local restaurant in Artesia before retiring, a member of Hermosa Drive Baptist Church, volunteer for the Senior Center in both Artesia and Lubbock, and had a deep desire to care for people, all of her life, who were in need. Survivors include her mother Irene Arrington of Lubbock; daughters Debbie Golden and husband Jimmy of Sherwood, Arkansas, Pam Thurman and husband Mike of Artesia, and Becky Ingram and husband Randy of Artesia; son David Brown and wife Linda of Mt. Airy, North Carolina; brother Rodney DePauw of Lubbock; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to The Bridge, 1301 Redbud Avenue, Lubbock, TX 79403.
