Graveside services are scheduled at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, at the Upper Hope Cemetery for Anita Vivian Teel of Hope, New Mexico.
Mrs. Teel, 81, died Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Artesia General Hospital.
Pastor Terry Aiello will officiate at the services.
Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary Monday beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Vivian was born February 24, 1933 in Pearsall, Texas the daughter of Hoyt R. Blackwelder and Hazel B. Caddell Blackwelder. She was a longtime resident of Hope and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hope. She was a good servant to the Lord and taught Sunday School for many years. She retired as Postmaster of Hope after many years of service to the US Postal Service. After her retirement she began driving a school bus picking up children in the rural area. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for many years.
On June 7, 1974 she was married to R.N. Teel in Hope, New Mexico. Vivian and R.N. spent many summers in their travel trailer meeting the same group of friends each year. He preceded her in death March 3, 2013. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister Alma Blackwelder Mullinax.
Survivors include her sons Gene Lee and wife Sandra of Roswell, N.M., and Robert W. Lee and wife Kay of Garden City, Kansas stepson Sammy Teel of Hope grandchildren Julie Lee Hodges and husband Tim of Roswell, Kelsey Lee and Kayla Lee of Garden City, Joley Teel Deerman and husband Brook of Hope, and Cody Teel and wife Tara of Amarillo, Texas greatgrandchildren Chelsi Lee Henderson and husband Conrad of Lubbock, TX, and Taylor Hodges of Roswell. Vivian had two special guys in her life, Taylor Hodges and Cody Anderwald who would always bring her a cheesburger and a chocolate shake and helped her in any way they could. She was expecting and excited about the arrival of her greatgreatgrandson Corbin Lee Henderson.
Vivian will be greatly missed by all her family and many friends in the Hope, Artesia, and Roswell area. Her quick wit, and honest outspoken manner were her trademark.
