Virginia Shaw

Memorial Services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Friday, May. 3, at St. Pauls Episcopal Church for Virginia Shaw, 1111 W. Main Ave., Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Shaw, 95, died Monday, April 22, 2013 in Artesia, NM.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening Son Mortuary.

Virginia was born October 4, 1917 in Muskogee, Oklahoma the daughter of Albert T. Woods and Estelle Grant Woods. She was a longtime resident of Artesia.

On July 1, 1940 she was married to Jack B. Shaw in Artesia. He preceded her in death March 5, 1999.

She was an owneroperator of oil and gas leases, a member of St. Pauls Episcopal Church, and Daughters of the American Revolution.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Charlotte Woods Runyan and Emily Woods Ray, nieces Rosemary Flint Wayte and Estelle Ray, nephew Bill Ray.

Survivors include daughters Helen Shaw of Artesia, and Jacqueline Shaw and fiance Kelly Starr of Dexter, NM sister Mary K. Fowles of Kennewick, Virginia sisterinlaw Ivy Shaw of Loon Lake, Washington nieces and nephews Tom and Pam Runyan, Shirley Rich, Emily Katherine Boyd, Ted Ballard, Julie and Frank Keplinger, and Fran and Tom Skipper.
