Services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, March 1 at Terpening Son Mortuary for Virginia Idell Hood of Hope, New Mexico. Mrs. Hood, 70, died Thursday, February 27, 2003 in El Paso, Texas. Revs. J. L. Lewis, Gene Lewis, Brett Prince, and Terry Pugh will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Larry Don York, Jr., Brenton Dunn, Gary Harless, Steve Harless, Terry Jimenez, Joseph Jimenez, and Irvin Lewis. Mrs. Hood was born November 12, 1932 in Roswell, New Mexico; the daughter of Emmett Wallace York and Pearl Elizabeth Hyman York. She moved from there to Artesia in 1949. She was a Certified Nurses Assistant at Chavez County Home Health and member of Lighthouse United Pentecostal Church. She loved to sing, draw and write poetry. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son Randy Dale Hood; a daughter Janet Moody; a brother Carroll Eugene York; and a sister Sylvia Shan. Survivors include daughters Donna Clowers and husband David of Parsons, Kansas and Kimberly Meyer of Pampa, Texas; sons Kevin Hood and wife Cheryl of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Gregory Hood of Tulsa, and Kalon Hood of Roswell; sisters Rosa Lewis of Odessa, Texas, Jewel Jimenez of El Paso, Texas, Joyce Harless and husband Bill of Roswell, Reba Wooldridge and husband Lynn of Hope, and Glenda Dunn and husband Royce of Kermit, Texas; a brother Larry Don York, Sr. and wife Phyllis of Western Grove, Arkansas; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
