A memorial service for Virgie Delene (Joy) Romine will be held at First Baptist Church on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at 10:00 am.
Mrs. Romine, 74, passed away surrounded by her loving family on January 30, 2025, in Hope, NM.
She was born on August 21, 1950, to W.R. (Dub) Joy and EstaLee Booth in Roswell, NM.
Virgie grew up on the Joy Ranch in Flying H, NM. She attended Penasco School and graduated from Artesia High School in 1968. She met the love of her life, David Romine, in San Bernardino, CA in May of 1968 and they soon married in October of that same year at First Baptist Church in Artesia. She graduated from NMSU with a bachelor's degree, worked as an accountant throughout her career and later retired from HF Sinclair in July of 2024.
She was a true mountain gal, she loved reading, gardening, enjoying the outdoors and most of all spending time with her family. She was a Shrine Lady, a loving Wife, Mother, Grandma and Great Grandma.
Virgie is preceded in death by her father, W.R. (Dub) Joy, mother EstaLee Booth, sisters Deanna Fredrickson and Davina Hudson.
Virgie is survived by her husband, David Romine of 56 years, three sons, Michael Romine (Jacklynn) of Cortez, CO, Bill Romine (Dawna) of Artesia, NM and Gary Romine of Artesia, NM, and Mike Callaway (Bill's best friend growing up) which was like another son to her. Ten grandchildren Brian Romine, Ashley Romine, Rachel Romine, Brooke Romine, Blake Romine, Dylan Romine, Seth Romine, Garrett Romine, Sydney Ryan, Tyler Romine and 5 great grandchildren, one brother Richard Joy (Tina) and four sisters Bobbie Rinehart (Larry), Carol Booth, Kathy Rasco and Nonia Booth. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will miss her.
