Services are scheduled at 9:30 A.M. Friday, February 6 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Victoriano Huerta Lugo, Artesia, New Mexico. PMr. Lugo, 89, died Monday, February 2, 2004 at his home. PFr. Paul Murtagh SS.CC. will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Paul Lugo, Michael John Chavez, David Lara, Gabriel Serrano, Christopher Lugo, and Michael Farmer. Honorary pallbearers will be Gracie Tucker and Emily Mendoza. PA rosary service is also scheduled for 6:30 P.M. Thursday at Our Lady of Grace Church. Visitation at Terpening amp; Son Mortuary will begin at 10:00 A.M. Thursday. PMr. Lugo was born January 12, 1915 in Terlingua, Texas; the son of Cruz Lugo and Carolina Huerta Lugo. He came from Texas to Artesia in 1927. POn December 7, 1936 he was married to Irene Lara in Artesia. His wife preceded him in death June 11, 2000. He was also preceded in death by his parents; by brothers Severo Lugo and Cruz Lugo; and by sisters Trine Lugo, Francisca Lugo, Ricarda Sanchez, and Petra Bustamante. PHe was a construction laborer and worked for the City of Artesia street department for 13 years; and was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.
Survivors include sons Jose Lara of Artesia, Juan Lugo and wife Sylvia of Artesia, Thomas Lugo and wife Rita of Tucson, Arizona, and Robert Lugo of Artesia; daughters Esperanza Lugo, Luisa Lugo, and Priscilla Serrano and husband Joe all of Artesia; sisters Lilia Lara and Rosa Navarrette both of Artesia; ten grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
