Victor Miller

Services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 7, at Terpening Son Mortuary for Victor L. Miller of Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Miller, 79, died Thursday, January 3, 2008 at his home. Rev. J. B. Craft will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jack Callaway, Art Ortega, Matt Griffin, Travis Griffin, Jeff Stack, and Marc Pacheco. Honorary pallbearers will be George Chase, and Kent Whitmire. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary Sunday beginning at 2:00 p.m. Mr. Miller was born April 1, 1928 in Richland, Missouri; the son of Rosco Miller and Flossie Bryant Miller. On April 10, 1951 he was married to Janus B. Simmons in Harrison, Arkansas. He came to Artesia in 1959 from Oklahoma. He was a pumper for Atlantic Richfield and of the Baptist denomination. Victor was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister. Survivors include his wife Janus B. Miller of the family home; daughters Vicki Sallee and husband Ken of Artesia; sons Louis Simmons and wife Linda of West Richland, Washington, Jeff Simmons of Wagoner, Oklahoma, and Gary Simmons of Artesia; sister Mable Myers of Lebanon, Missouri; brothers Roger Miller of Lakeland, Georgia, T. Lee Miller of Dover, Delaware, and Bob Miller of Aimes, Iowa; 9 grandchildren including Scott Miller and wife Jaime of Artesia, Nichole Pacheco and husband Marc of Las Cruces, N.M., and Kacy Stack and husband Jeff of Artesia; 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
