Memorial services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Apr. 13, at Hope Community Center for Verl Raymond Derrick, 914 Wood St., Hope, New Mexico.
Mr. Derrick, 92, died Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at his home.
Travis Husted will officiate at the services. Cremation has taken place under direction of Terpening Son Mortuary.
Verl was born January 10, 1921 in May, Oklahoma the son of James Levi Derrick and Etta Bayles Derrick. He was a longtime area resident.
On March 20, 1947 he was married to Bonnie Carpenter in Roswell, NM.
He served in the United States Army during World War II.
He was a ranch hand and a member of West Main Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, and 2 sisters.
Survivors include his wife Bonnie Derrick of Hope sons Raymond Edward Derrick of Loco Hills, N.M., Robert Arthur Derrick of Artesia, Donald Gene Derrick of Hope,and Gary Neal Derrick of Hawley, Texas 6 grandchildren and 9 greatgrandchildren numerous nieces and nephews.
