Vera Danning

Memorial services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 29, at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall for Vera Evelyn Danning, 304 N. 4th Street, Artesia, New Mexico. Luncheon will follow.

Mrs. Danning, 95, died Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Heartland Nursing Center in Artesia.

Vera was born September 6, 1916 in Lovington, New Mexico the daughter of John Lee Standard and Millie Ruth Patterson Standard. She was a longtime area resident.

She was a telephone operator and seamstress. She had a lifelong passion for gardening, being outdoors, and was member of First Baptist Church, Artesia, and Eastern Star in Portales. She also really enjoyed reading her Bible, knitting and crocheting.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, 3 sisters, greatgrandchild.

Survivors include daughters Sybil Scarbrough and husband Richard of Artesia, and Marsha Van Winkle and husband Elvis of Portales, N.M. sister Mildred Pennington of Carlsbad, N.M. 6 grandchildren, 10 greatgrandchildren, and 10 greatgreatgrandchildren numerous nieces and nephews.
