Venceclaus Vargas

Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 20 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Venceclaus Vargas of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Vargas, 91, passed away on December 18, 2017 at San Pedro Nursing Facility In Artesia.

Fr. Jorge Vargas will officiate at the service with burial to follow at Woodbine cemetery. A Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace.

Venceclaus was born on August 29, 1926 in Artesia; the son of Diego and Maria (Dominguez) Vargas. On January 9, 1948 he married Juana Perez in Matamoros Coahila, Mexico. She preceded him in death on May 25, 2011. He was also preceded in death by his parents, grandson Peter Ruiz, 3 sisters and 2 brothers.

He was a farm laborer and enjoyed gardening, singing and joking around.

Survivors include his sons Manuel Vargas of Artesia, Santos Vargas of Alamogordo, N.M. and Pedro Vargas of Artesia; daughters Blanco Quiroz of Mexico, Maria Vargas of Artesia, Maria del Refugio of Artesia, Margarita Vargas of Artesia and Anna Lerma of Lovington N.M.; 29 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
