Memorial services are scheduled at 10:30 A.M. Friday, May 9, at Faith Baptist Church for Tom Clark of Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Clark, 90, died Tuesday, May 6, 2003 at his home. Rev. Michael Elliott will officiate at the services. Cremation has taken place. Honorary pallbearers will be Cliff Barker, Phil Maxey, Y. L. Sinclair, Thomas Johnson, Eddie LaRue, Lonnie Archer, Billy Snowden, Larry Troublefield, LeRoy Curry, and Jimmy Bullock. Mr. Clark was born April 30, 1913 in Tupelo, Mississippi; the son of Fletcher Clark and Alice Blalock Clark. He came to Artesia in 1969 from Brownfield, Texas. On March 15, 1986 he was married to Billie M. Maxwell in Hope, New Mexico. He was a retired solid waste supervisor for the City of Artesia; was a member of the Baptist denomination, and was active at the Artesia Senior Citizens Center. Mr. Clark was preceded in death by his parents and by three brothers. Survivors include his wife Billie Clark of the family home; daughters Mary Mann of Abilene, Texas and Lucy Whiteside of Pipe Creek, Texas; step-sons Evans Jackson of Artesia, James D. Jackson of Dayton, Texas and Jerry M. Merrell of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; a brother Eugene Clark of Levelland, Texas; sisters Elaine Ottwell of Monroe, Louisiana and Olene McCann of Levelland, Texas; ten grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
