Tillie Rodriquez

Services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 20, 2012 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Tillie T. Rodriquez of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Rodriquez, 91, died Sunday, September 16, 2012 at Heartland Nursing Center in Artesia.

Fr. Brian Guerrini, SS.CC. will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Cabezuela, Jr., Michael Rodriquez, Lawrence Rodriquez, Todd Madrid, Henry Rodriquez, Jr., and Robert Cabezuela.

Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary Wednesday beginning at 4:00 p.m. and also Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A rosary will be at Terpening Son Chapel Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

Tillie was born August 21, 1921 in Atoka, New Mexico the daughter of Cleto Torrez and Maria Orona Torrez. She was a lifelong Artesia area resident.

On Nov. 29, 1939 she was married to Frank Rodriquez, Sr. in Carlsbad, NM. He preceded her in death September 26, 1997. She was also preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, and 3 brothers. In 1998 Tillie suffered a severe stroke and for the last 17 years she has been under the care of her son Frank at her home.

She was a cafeteria server for the Artesia School district and a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Both Tillie and Frank, Sr., love to volunteer for several events, especially at the voting polls for many years.

Survivors include her sons Frank Rodriquez, Jr. of Artesia, and Henry Rodriquez and wife Virginia of Artesia daughters Velma Stallings and husband Spencer of Garland, Texas, Virginia Armendariz and husband Daniel of Plano, Texas, and Sylvia Cabezuela and husband Joe of Wylie, Texas 12 grandchildren and 18 greatgrandchildren.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude toward the staff and nurses at Heartland Nursing Center of Artesia.
