Memorial services are scheduled at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 17, at First Baptist Church for Thurman Jefferson Broxson of Artesia, New Mexico.
Mr. Broxson, 87, died Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at his home.
Rev. Rick Sullivan and Rev. Rob Hollis will officiate at the services. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary.
T.J. was born November 7, 1927 in Floydada, Texas; the son of Charles Washington Broxson and Dora Elvira (Smith) Broxson.
He served his country in the United States Navy from 1945-1946 during World War II. He got out of the Navy, finished high school and joined the Air Force from 1948-1952.
On April 26, 1975 he was married to Barbara Goss in Quemado, New Mexico. They came to Artesia in 2010 from Farwell, Texas.
T.J. was a farm laborer and a member of First Baptist Church. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sons; and 8 siblings.
Survivors include his wife Barbara Broxson of the family home; daughters Kim Smith of New Mexico, and Kelly Pressly and husband Tony of Texas; grandchildren Arron Payne and wife Jessie, and Peyton Pressly; great-granddaughter Jemma Payne; and a sister Hattie Carter of Texas.
