Thomas Harwell

Thomas B. Harwell Services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, November 20, at Westside Church of Christ for Thomas B. Harwell, Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Harwell, 77, died Wednesday, November 17, 2004 at Artesia General Hospital. Tom Dawson will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery with Moose Lodge and Military rites. Pallbearers will be grandchildren Mike Wood, Donnie Wood, Rick Ford, Wesley Billips, Josh Harwell, Adam Harwell, Tim Patton, Bill Patton and Paula Klemm. Honorary pallbearers will be all friends from the Moose Lodge and TC Tank. Mr. Harwell was born March 10, 1927 in Smyer, Texas; the son of James Harwell and Norma Longbotham Harwell. On July 28, 1946 he was married to Moreen McLellan in Artesia. He came to Artesia in 1939 from Texas; he farmed in Roswell, Floyd and Ft. Summner, NM. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was a Heavy Equipment Operator and Truck driver for TC Tank Co. He was a member of Floyd Baptist Church, Floyd, N.M., and attended Westside Church of Christ in Artesia; he was a member of the Artesia Moose Lodge where he had held all offices including Governor, and member of the Floyd Lions Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Don Walker Harwell, and a brother James Lloyd Harwell. Survivors include his wife Moreen Harwell of the family home; daughters Lynette Wood and husband Larry of Artesia, Rebekah Ramos and husband David of Artesia, Tommie Sue Bruner and husband Ray of San Marcos, Texas; son Steve Harwell of Rhama, North Dakota; brother Ernest Harwell and wife Thelma of Roswell, N.M.; 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Lakeview Hospice 1300 N. Canal Carlsbad, NM 88220. Services are under the direction of Terpening Son Mortuary.
