Services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 30, at Terpening amp; Son Chapel for Thelma Walker, 408 S. 15th St., Artesia, New Mexico. PMrs. Walker, 83, died Monday, November 27, 2006 at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center in Roswell, New Mexico. PBrent Hammett will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park with Eastern Star Rites. Pallbearers will be Craig Walker, Mike Walker, Scott Walker, Bobby Raymond, Jerome Johnson, and Bill Fowler. PMrs. Walker was born March 27, 1923 in Carson, New Mexico; the daughter of Joseph Johnson and Verna Baumgardner Johnson. POn Sept. 24, 1940 she was married to Joe Allen Walker in Albuquerque, N.M. She came to Artesia in 1949 from Albuquerque. He preceded her in death Sept. 13, 1983. PShe was a housewife and member of First Christian Church for 54 years, past Matron of Eastern Star, member White Shrine of Jerusalem, past President of the Artesia Woman's Club, and an avid bridge player. PShe was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Albert Johnson and a sister Gladys Claxton. Survivors include her sons Les Walker and wife Loretta of Roswell, and Charles Walker and wife Pat of Denver City, Texas; 4 grandchildren Craig Walker of Roswell, Mike Walker of Phoenix, Arizona, Scott Walker of Keller, Texas, and Jerry Wykoff of Grand Prairie, Texas; 5 great-grandchildren Emily, Taylor, Luke, Courteney, and Zoe; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church in Artesia.
