Services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 29, at Terpening Son Chapel for Teresa G. Navarrette, 306 W. Gage, Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Navarrette, 72, died Monday, December 25, 2006 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. Manuel Carrera will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Zarazua, Victor Lujan, Carlos Zarazua, David Zarazua Jr., Stephen Garcia, and Sammy Ray Zarazua Jr. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 28, and a prayer service will begin at 7:00 p.m. at Terpening Son Chapel. Mrs. Navarrette was born October 15, 1934 in Malaga, New Mexico; the daughter of Emeterio Valdez and Juanita Garcia Valdez. On October 31, 1981 she was married to Prudencio Navarrette in El Paso, Texas. She came to Artesia in the 1940's. She was a Homemaker and member of Spanish Assembly of God. Mrs. Navarrette was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Adan Valdez and Ishmael Valdez, and sisters Asencion Velasquez, Erminia Tesillo, and Enedina Ybarra. Survivors include husband Prudencio Navarrette and granddaughter Angelica of the family home; sons Raul Garcia and wife Lupe of Roswell, N.M., David Zarazua of Artesia, N.M., Joseph Zarazua of Arteisa, Sammy Zarazua and wife Pat of Roswell, and Antonio Navarrette and Melissa of Carlsbad, N.M.; daughter Virginia Lujan of Artesia; brothers Simon Valdez of Lovington, N.M., Isabel Valdez and wife Margaret of Lovington, Angel Nano Valdez of Hobbs, N.M., Manuel Valdez and wife Yolanda of Roswell, and Juan Hernandez and wife Nena of Visalia, California; sisters Espaeranza Valdez and husband Santiago of Artesia, and Lydia Valencia of Sacramento, California; 17 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and family; special pets Pingo, Pinga, and Pingito.
