Teofila Rodriguez

Services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Teofila Rubio Rodriguez of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Rodriguez, 81, died Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Eastern N.M. Medical Center in Roswell, New Mexico.

Fr. Martin Cornejo O.F.M. will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be friends and family members.

Visitation will be at Terpening & Son Mortuary Monday beginning at 10:00 a.m. A rosary will be at Our Lady of Grace Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.

Teofila was born March 12, 1934 in Presidio, Texas; the daughter of Pedro Rubio and Locaria (Alaniz) Rubio. She came to Artesia in 1949 from Texas.

Sometime in the early 1970's she was married to Alfonso Rodriguez in Carlsbad, NM. She was married one time before. Both of her spouses had preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her grandparents, and siblings Teodora Moncada, Maria Chavez, Teodula Sinohue, Catalina Hinojos, Matilde Ruiz, and Felipe Ramos, Jr.

Teofila was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. She enjoyed listening to music, dancing, sewing, macrame, crafts, and loved the outdoors including horses and the horse races.

Survivors include her daughters Elia S. Leyba and husband John of Tarzana, California, and Martha S. Mariscal and husband Manuel of Artesia; son Oscar R. Sosa and wife Helen of Artesia; grandchildren Angela Sosa-Boehm, Monica, Marisela, and Mario Mariscal; and great-grandchildren Geraldo Barragan, Emilio, Mariah, and Xavier Mariscal.
