Sybil Sutton

Graveside services are scheduled at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 11, at Woodbine Cemetery in Artesia, N.M. for longtime Artesia area resident Sybil Sutton of Monahans, Texas. Mrs. Sutton, 82, died Wednesday, January 8, 2003 in Crane, Texas. Rev. Rick Sullivan will officiate at the services. Pallbearers will be Mack Chase, Blair Thompson, Gene Clowe, Robby Dawson, Tommy Moore, and George Chase. Mrs. Sutton was born September 12, 1920 in Sheffield, Texas; the daughter of James Evan Evans and Myrtle Jane Wiley Evans. On October 11, 1939 she was married to Leo Robert Sutton in Ozona, Texas. They were longtime residents of Maljamar, N.M. and lived in Artesia in 1958. She was a homemaker and worked as a school bus driver for 10 years. Mrs. Sutton was preceded in death by her parents; and by one brother; and four sisters. Survivors include her husband Leo Sutton of the family home; sons Wilbert Lew Sutton and wife Carol of Hobbs, N.M., Michael Bruce Sutton and wife Penny of Artesia, and Leo Robert Sutton, Jr. and wife Doris of Monahans; a sister Myrtle Barefoot of San Angelo, Texas five grandchildren; 11 great-grand-children; and numerous nieces and nephews.
