In Loving memory of Susano L. Onsurez who went home to his Eternal Savior on June 9, 2006. Born on August 11, 1912 in Otis New Mexico, he is survived by his adoring wife Tomasa Onsurez and their 8 children: Maria Elena, Chris, Louisa, Encarnacion, Armando, Raul, Eddie, and Elida; 23 grand children and 35 great-grand children. He is preceded by his parents, Santa Cruz and Gregoria Onsurez, and step-mother Simona Onsurez. Also preceding him were his brothers Ignacio, Pedro, Roque, and sisters, Encarnacion and Juana Onsurez, Reyna Rincon, Maria Serrano, and Mariana Morales. An Artesian resident since 1947, he was a valued laborer on many local farms and ranches. He enjoyed the outdoors as a gardener and hunter. His garden was the envy of the neighborhood and his celestial escape, while hunting was his way of communing and loving his sons. A kind and gentle father, his adoration for his daughters was undeniable and never-ending. He cherished his wife and their love spanned decades of adventure as they approached their 68th anniversary. A famed trick horseman, Susano was loved by many and a friend to all. He always wore an inviting smile and his grey Stetson hat. He was infamous for his jokes and pranks. Daddy will be remembered for his love of life, gift of laughter, mastery of dominos and cards, but most of all his devotion to his family and their happiness. First viewing will be today from 2 to 9 pm at Terpening Son Mortuary, 611 West Grand Ave, in Artesia. Memorial services will be conducted at his local parish, Our Lady of Grace on Monday, June 12, 2006 from 10 am to 4 pm with funeral services on Tuesday starting at 2 pm. Graveside services to follow at the Woodbine Cemetery
