Susanna Powell

Funeral services are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 26 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Susanna Gomez Powell of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Powell, 56, passed away on Friday, September 21, 2018 at her home.

Fr. Vijay will officiate at the service with burial to follow at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jeremiah Florez, Carlos Renteria, Art Ortega, Jerry Ortega, Paul Ortega and Larry Galindo Sr. Honorary pallbearer is Edward Ortega.

A rosary will be held at 6:30 P.M. on Tuesday, September 25 at Our Lady of Grace. No visitation is scheduled.

Susanna was born on July 22, 1962 in Artesia, NM; the daughter of Mariano and Irene (Ortega) Gomez. She married Donnie Powell on February 21, 2004. He preceded her in death on June 16, 2013.

She was a housewife and a member of the Catholic Church. She loved the outdoors and camping, riding bikes and four-wheelers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Martha Gomez and Rebecca G. Flores and nephew Eric Rocha.

Survivors include her sisters Anita Gomez of Artesia and Lisa G. Duncan and husband Kevin of Artesia; numerous nieces and nephews; god-daughter Alexia Huerta; and best friend Edward Ortega of Artesia.
