Susan Allen

Memorial services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 20, at First Baptist Church for Suzie L. Allen, of Artesia, New Mexico. The family will be receiving friends at 101 E. Blevins from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday. Miss Allen, 62, died Thursday, February 15, 2007 at her home. Jason Kraft will officiate at the services. Cremation is under direction of Terpening Son Mortuary. No visitation is planned. Suzie was born October 3, 1944 in Olney, Illinois; the daughter of Thomas Raymond Allen and Mary Ruth Gardner Allen. She came to Artesia in 1954 from Ada, Oklahoma. She taught English and Speech at Zia Junior High and taught English and Coached at Artesia High School for over 25 years. She was currently an adjunct FacultyInstructor with Eastern N.M. University - Roswell. She was a member of First Baptist Church, and had been a sponsor of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Junior High and High School Cheerleader Sponsor. She was preceded in death by her parents; and by a brother Jerry Don Allen. Survivors include brother Thomas R. Allen, Jr. of Grand Prairie, Texas; and sister Wanda Champion of Mineral Wells, Texas; niece Lauri Coffee and husband Kelly of Brock, Texas and sons Cody Champion and Chase Coffee, niece Elizabeth Champion Heisterman and husband Matt of Brock and daughter Danielle Champion of Denver, Colo., nephew Jedd Champion and wife Charmaine of Little Elm, Texas and sons Quinton and Jeremiah Champion, niece Tiffani Allen of Grand Prairie and daughters Grace and Olivia Allen, nephew Thomas R. Trace Allen, III of Austin, Texas, and nephew Trent Allen and wife Debbie of Arlington, Texas and sons Travis and Trey Allen. The family has suggested memorial contributions be made to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes or charity of choice.
