Stilla Christian

Graveside services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 1, at Woodbine Cemetery for Strilla Edna Christian of Lovington, New Mexico. Mrs. Christian, 93, died Saturday, November 22, 2008 at Good Samaritan Services in Lovington. Elder Jerry Christian will officiate at the services. Visitation at Terpening Son Mortuary will be Sunday, Nov. 30, beginning at 2:00 p.m. Mrs. Christian was born April 11, 1915 in Littlerock, Arkansas; the daughter of George Weston and Lue Colton Weston. On November 5, 1932 she was married to Carl Whit Christian in Chickasha, Oklahoma. They came to Artesia in 1969 from Lovington and resided here until she moved back in 1989. He preceded her in death December 12, 1973. She was also preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers, five sisters, and a son. Mrs. Christian was a homemaker and a member of the Primative Baptist Church. Survivors include her sons Nathan Christian of Lovington, and Jerry Christian and wife Becky of Hobbs, N.M.; daughter Shirley Christian of Portales, N.M.; numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
