A rosary and mass are scheduled for 9:30a.m. Saturday, January 7, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Stephen George Aguilar of Artesia, N.M.
Mr. Aguilar, 64, died on Sunday, January 1, 2017 at Artesia General Hospital.
Fr. Martin Cornejo will officate at the services with burial to follow at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ricardo Aguilar, Gucci Lopez, Luciahno Lopez, Roman Aguilar, Ryan Johnson and Andy Huertaz. Honorary pallbearers are all of his nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Terpening & Son Mortuary beginning at 10 a.m. Friday.
George was born November 15, 1952 in Artesia; the son of Frank Aguilar and Reynalda Flores Aguilar. He was a lifelong resident of Artesia.
On June 24, 1980 he married Carol De La Rosa in Lovington, New Mexico.
He was a foreman at Navajo Refining for 30 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, loved his loud reggae music, a die hard Dallas Cowboys and Bob Marley fan, babysitting his only granddaughter Denasia, watching his favorite old western movies, and working on his 1970 Mustang.
He was preceded in death by his father, and in-laws Andy and Julia De La Rosa.
Survivors include his wife Carol of the family home; mother Reynalda Aguilar of Artesia; sons Jacob Aguilar of Artesia and Jarred Aguilar of Artesia; daughter Jennifer Florez of Artesia; brothers Isaac Aguilar and wife Alice of Los Lunas, NM, Frank Aguilar and wife Josie of Artesia, and Tommy Aguilar and wife Carmen of Houston, Texas; sisters Louise Baldonado and husband Mike of Los Lunas, and Geneva Huertaz and husband Jim Lopez of Los Lunas; granddaughter Denasia Aguilar; in-laws Carmen Hinojos and husband Domingo of Hobbs, N.M., Terry Lopez and husband Mario of Artesia, and Tina Huerta and husband Nat of Artesia; numerous nieces and nephews.
