Sisto Ponce

Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12 at Our Lady of Grace Church for Sisto Arenivaz Ponce of Artesia.

Mr. Ponce, 78, died Sunday, November 9, 2014 at his home.

Fr. Martin Cornejo will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Albert Mata Jr., Fernando Valenzuela Jr., Anthony Ponce, Lupito Jimenez, Martin Aguilar, Benjamin Valenzuela, Joseph Ponce and Meiko Ponce. Honorary Pallbearer are his sons, soninlaws and other grandsons.

Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary Tuesday beginning at 10:00 a.m. A rosary will be at Our Lady of Grace Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Sisto was born June 6, 1936 in Barrancos, Chihuahua Mexico the son of Luciano Ponce and Gomesinda Arenivaz Ponce. He came to Artesia in 1943 from Mexico.

On October 15, 1955 he was married to Longina Delgado in Carlsbad, NM. She preceded him in death January 23, 2009.

He was a farm laborer and a member of Our Lady of Grace and Cursillistas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Eliseo Ponce, a daughter Elisa Ponce, 2 granddaughters Veronica Ponce and Maria Elena Jimenez, brother Niconor Arenivaz and sister Hermina Oropesa.

Survivors include his sons Abel Ponce and wife Tammy of Artesia, Adrian Ponce and wife Rosa of Artesia, Maurelio Ponce and wife Delfina of Odessa, TX, Richard Ponce and wife Samantha of Artesia and Joe Ponce and wife Tina of Odessa daughters Rosemary Valenzuela and husband Fernando of Artesia, Diana Galindo and husband Fernando of Artesia and Jesusita Aguilar and husband Martin of Artesia 40 grandchildren, 43 greatgrandchildren and 6 greatgreat grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
