Graveside services are scheduled for 2 pm Friday, January 15 at Woodbine Cemetery for Shirley Houserman-Meschino of Artesia, New Mexico.
Mrs. Houserman-Meschino, 96, died on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, peacefully at home with her family.
Visitation will be at Terpening & Son Mortuary from 10 am to noon on Friday.
Shirley was born on June 13, 1924 in Rutland, Vermont; the daughter of Charles A. Brown and Harriet LeFebre Brown.
On May 18, 1942 she was married to Keith Fred Houserman. He preceded her in death on March 8, 1988. She later married Carlo Meschino in 1990. He preceded her in death on April 10, 1999.
Shirley was a housewife and past President of the PTA at Park Terrace Elementary School in Gloversville, New York. She was a receptionist for several doctor's offices and was also a plane spotter on the East coast during World War II. She loved to dance, sew and design clothes making many of her own and daughter's dresses and gowns. She enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and traveling. She had also built several masonry construction houses with her husband Keith. Most of all she loved getting pampered by Linda Jackson at The Cutting Edge weekly and even twice a week the last couple of years. Shirley was the glue for the family, organizing holidays and family gatherings. She loved being a mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Survivors include her son Gary Houserman; step-son Mark Meschino; daughters Sandra Henze, Susan Glass, Kimberly Kucel, Lisa Doyal and Christina Houserman; 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
