Seferina Lopez

Services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 10, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Seferina G. Lopez of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Lopez, 83, died Friday, May 7, 2010 at her home.

Fr. Paul Murtagh SS.CC. will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Arturo Lopez, Jr., Gary Lopez, Mateo Lopez, Jonathan Lopez, Jason Lopez, Gino Lopez, and Jerame Lopez.

A rosary will be at Our Lady of Grace Sunday at 7:00 p.m.

Mrs. Lopez was born August 26, 1926 in Shafter, Texas the daughter of Juan Garcia and Antonia Hernandez Garcia.

On January 9, 1950 she was married to Florencio Lopez, Sr. in Carlsbad, N.M. She came to Artesia in 1949 from Shafter, Texas. He preceded her in death May 27, 1991. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and a grandson.

Seferina worked as a dishwasher. She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Crusillistas, and an usher at church. She took care of foster children and was a grandparent for Headstart and Kindergarten.

Survivors include her sons Florencio Lopez, Jr. of Artesia, Arturo Lopez of Las Cruces, N.M., Robert Lopez of Artesia, Ricardo Lopez of Artesia, and Albert Lopez of Artesia stepson Hans Goller daughters Viola McHaney of Artesia, Beatrice Lopez of Artesia, and Senaida Lopez of Artesia brother Eufemio Garcia of Artesia sister Esuarda Flores of Artesia 14 grandchildren and 15 greatgrandchildren.
