Sandra Bailey

November 13, 1950 — October 26, 2015

Celebration of Life services for Sandra Odum Bailey age 64, of Dallas Texas will be held on Monday, November 2, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 322 Grand Ave., Artesia, NM. Reverend Thomas E. Ford, Pastor of Bethel Baptist Church will Officiate.

Visitation will be at Terpening & Son Mortuary Sunday, November 1st from 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Sandra was born November 13, 1950 to James Madison and Eula Fay Chatman Odum in Artesia, New Mexico. Our Heavenly Father called His sweet child home, from labor to rest October 26, 2015 in Dallas, Texas.

At an early age Sandra made Jesus her choice and loved the Lord dearly. She joined Bethel Baptist Church and worked faithfully as an Usher, Financial Secretary, Church Clerk, Sunday School Secretary, Choir and Women's Auxiliary member until her job moved her to Dallas, Texas. She became an active member of Burning Bush Baptist Church where Reverend J. E. Brown is the Pastor, where she continued to work for the Lord.

Sandra was the kind of person that put her heart into everything she did as she shared her God given talents with others. If asked to do something, she went above and beyond the call of duty. Her vision always exceeded everyone's expectation. This was evident as she worked as general secretary for the Jerusalem District Congress of Christian Education and Association under the administration of the late Rev. W.C. Miller and the present President, Dr. R. Gorham, and Moderator Joe Callahan. Also, as a dependable and trusted worker for Navajo Refinery and Holly Corporation for over 30 years.

Sandra never considered herself more than a servant for the Lord. She was devoted and loyal to her family and friends. She really loved and was very proud of her grandchildren. She had a very close bond with her sister, Esther. The loss will surely be felt. They talked to each other every day.

Sister Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, James Madison and Eula Fay Odum, brothers, Willie Fred Odum and James Ray Odum, a sister, Maragaret Odum Rayford and grandson, Louis Simmons.
She leaves to cherish her memory, husband of the home, Ray Edward Bailey of Dallas, Texas, sister, Esther Odum Earl of Artesia, NM, sons, Cedric Earl (Lashanda) of Reklaw, Texas and Rodney Lynn Earl (Sue) of Artesia, NM, daughter, Angela Dawn Mills (Rodney) of San Antonio, Texas, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and (Sisters) that loved her dearly.

Following the service, Sister Sandra Bailey will be laid to rest at Woodbine Cemetery in Artesia.
