Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 21 at Faith Baptist Church for Samuel Paul Fodge, Jr. of Artesia, New Mexico.
Mr. Fodge, 46, died Tuesday, June 12, 2018 in Artesia.
Pastor Robby Ballew will officiate at the services with burial to follow at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joshua Fodge, Hiram Ortega, Juan Zamarron, Kane Wyatt, Ted Sandoval, and Morgen Fodge.
Visitation will begin Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at Terpening & Son Mortuary.
Paul was born April 24, 1972 in Memphis, Tennessee the son of Samuel Paul Fodge and Rose Hanks.
He served his country in the United States Army from 1991-1997.
Paul moved to Artesia in the early part of 2005 from Idaho Falls, Idaho. He attended the Border Patrol Academy at FLETC and met his love of his life Sally Berdoza. On December 10, 2005 he was married to Sally in Artesia. He worked for several agencies with law enforcement including Artesia Police Department from 2005-2006, Loving Police Department in 2007 and later transferring to the Carlsbad Police Department from 2007- 2012, and finally with the Eddy County Sheriff's Office from 2012-2018.
He was an active member of Faith Baptist Church and had a heart of service for his community and his church. Paul volunteered at the Artesia Little league and was a very giving person of his time and efforts and would do whatever was needed for anyone. He was a loving father and family time was important to him.
Paul was preceded in death by his grandparents.
He is survived by his wife Sally of the family home; sons Joshua and Samuel Fodge of Artesia; daughter Desarae Herrera of Artesia; father Samuel Paul Fodge and wife Deneice of Bonners Ferry, Idaho; mother Rose Hanks of Missouri; brothers Josh Fodge, Morgen Fodge and wife Rebekah of Bonners Ferry, and Jeremy Hicks and wife Heather of Missouri, numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and a host of church and law enforcement family.
