Sammy Salazar, Jr.

Services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Friday, June 28, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Sammy Salazar Jr., 514 S. Lake, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Mr. Salazar, 25, died Friday, June 21, 2002 at his home in Artesia, New Mexico. Father Virgilio Flores will officiate at the services with cremation under direction of Terpening Son Mortuary. A rosary is as also scheduled at 6:30 P.M. Thursday at Our Lady of Grace Church. Mr. Salazar was born November 27, 1976 in Artesia; the son of Sammy Salazar and Maria Olivas Salazar. On Feb. 17, 1997, he was married to Kuuipo Kauai in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was a longtime resident of Artesia and worked as a derrick hand in the oil field. He was preceded in death by his father. Survivors include his wife Kuuipo Salazar of Carlsbad; mother Maria Salazar of Artesia; sons Brian Kauai of Carlsbad, Orion Salazar of Carlsbad, Cyrus Salazar of Carlsbad; daughters Cheyenne Kauai of Carlsbad, Malina Kauai of Carlsbad, Velvet Salazar of Carlsbad; brothers Alzado Salazar of Artesia, Jon Anthony Salazar of Artesia;a sister Marisele Rubio of Artesia; grandparents Martha and Cruz Salazar of Roswell, N.M. and Refugia Olivas of Artesia; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
