Salvador Ramirez

Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Monday, February 11, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Salvador Chava Ramirez, of Roswell, New Mexico. Mr. Ramirez, 78, died Wednesday, February 6, 2008 in Artesia, New Mexico. Pallbearers will be Gabriel Ramirez, Abel Ponce, Jr., Oscar Ramirez, Jr., Craig Ramirez, Bryan Ponce, and Rigo Ramirez. Visitation at Terpening Son Mortuary will be from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday and Sunday beginning at 2:00 p.m. A rosary service is also planned for 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Our Lady of Grace Church. Mr. Ramirez was born June 8, 1929 in Post, Texas; the son of Francisco Ramirez and Maria Jimenez Ramirez. He came to Artesia in 1964 from Texas. He was a roustabout in the oil field and a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Roswell. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Ramon Ramirez; a sister Ramona Ruiz; a granddaughter Veronica Ponce; and by sons-in-law Eliseo Ponce and Joe Mendoza. Survivors include sons Salvador Ramirez Jr. of Midland, Texas, Raul Ramirez of Artesia, Oscar Ramirez of Artesia, Raymond Ramirez of Midland, and Lorenzo Ramirez of Carlsbad, N.M.; daughters Luzmila Mendoza of Artesia, and Velia Sisneros of Las Cruces, N.M. ; brothers Baldomero Ramirez of Roswell, Jose Ramirez of Presidio, Texas, Ruben of Ramirez of Wink, Texas, Ricardo Ramirez of Wink, and Mario Ramirez of Midland; sisters Lucia Widron of Midland, Maria Nena Quiroz of Midland, Margarita BiBeros of Del Rio, Texas, Armida Quiroz of Midland, Olga Jimenez of Midland, Gloria Rodriguez of Artesia, and Sulema Velacruz of Midland; 30 grandchildren ; and 25 great-grandchildren.
