Sallie White

Graveside services are scheduled at 11:00 a.m. CDT Friday, October 9, at Lamesa Memorial Park, Lamesa, Texas for Sallie White, 1512 Walter White Ranch Road, Leakey, Texas. Mrs. White, 96, died Monday, October 5, 2009 at her daughters home in Artesia, New Mexico. Family members will officiate at the services. A memorial service will be held at the Frio Canyon Baptist Church in Leakey, Texas at 11:00 a.m. CDT Saturday, October 10. Mrs. White was born June 1, 1913 in Stith, Texas; the daughter of James Henry Bridges and Eliza Etta Stapleton Bridges. On Feb. 14, 1970 she was married to James Robert White in Odessa, Texas. He preceded her in death Dec. 27, 2006. She was a longtime resident of Leakey. She was owner and operator of an Antique Shop and member of Frio Canyon Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a grandson Gary Welch. Survivors include daughters Betty White of Artesia, and Frances Jeanette Darrough of Midland, Texas; grandchildren David Welch of Albuquerque, N.M., Shirlee Brown of Houston, Texas, Jana Recknagel of Ozona, Texas, and Deeon Gallegos of San Diego, Calif.; 8 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
