S. Karr

Graveside services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 2, at Twin Oaks Memorial Park for S. G. Karr, Artesia, New Mexico. Rev. Gerald Harper will officiate at the services. Mr. Karr, 80, died Saturday, October 30, 2004 in Carlsbad, New Mexico. S. G. was born November 10, 1923 in Sulphur Springs, Texas; the son of Sam Karr and Lizzie Brady Karr. On September 20, 1948 he was married to Elsie Brisco in Deming, N.M. They came to Artesia in 1960 from Las Cruces, N.M. She preceded him in death September 13, 1999. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and by one grandchild. He farmed in the Las Cruces and El Paso, Texas areas from 1940 until 1967 and farmed in the Artesia area from 1960 until 1980. He then owned and operated North Forty Salvage until retiring in 1999. Survivors include step-daughters Jo Ann Brisco of Midland, Texas and Mickey Casey and husband L. D. of Las Cruces; a daughter Janis Karr of El Paso; sons Ranger Patch Karr and wife Suzanne of Williams, Arizona, Tony Karr and wife Mary of Artesia, and Sam Karr and wife Ramona of Artesia; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Lakeview Christian Home Alzheimer's Unit, 1300 N. Canal, Carlsbad, NM 88220 or to a favorite church or charity.
