Ruth Tanner

Graveside services will be held Monday, November 9th, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pinon Cemetery in Pinon, New Mexico for Mrs. Ruth Eleanor (Lewis) Tanner of Pinon.

Gary Gardner will officiate at the services.

Visitation will be at Terpening & Son Mortuary Sunday, November 8th from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Mrs. Tanner joined her Heavenly family on November 3, 2015 from her home.
Ruth was the first child born to Eldo Wafer and Eunice Opal (Walker) Lewis on January 17, 1931. Ruth grew up between the Crow Flat and Weed New Mexico areas. The family spent the summers and most holidays at the family ranch on Crow Flat and spent the school years near the George Lewis Homestead south of Weed. Ruth graduated from Weed High School in the spring of 1949 and on August 18, 1949 she married TA Tanner. They spent their lifetime operating first, a sheep ranch, then later a cattle ranch near Wilkerson Well southeast of Pinon New Mexico. In 2005 Ruth and TA moved to Pinon to spend their remaining years. Ruth had one daughter, Linda Lee Taylor and one granddaughter, Eleanor Pauline Taylor (Ellie). Ruth was a quiet, kind, and loving person. She truly loved her ranch and her animals.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband TA, her parents Eldo and Opal, her sister Milburn Belle Dodge (Millie), her sister Lucy Jane Schafer, and a niece Barbara Dodge.

She is survived by her daughter Linda and husband Bill Taylor of Pinon, her granddaughter Ellie of Pinon, her brother James Harvey Lewis of Las Cruces New Mexico, one nephew and numerous nieces.

Coffee, tea and covered dish refreshments to follow at the Pinon Clubhouse.
