Ruth Rainey

Graveside services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Monday, August11, at Woodbine Cemetery for Ruth Esther Rainey, 406 Byrum Road, Chaparral, New Mexico. Mrs. Rainey, 78, died Friday, August 8, 2003 at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Pastor Alvin Roberts will officiate at the services. Mrs. Rainey was born November 3,1924 in Swisher, Iowa; the daughter of George Fisher Bedell and Viola Hampton Ross Bedell. On August 25, 1945 she was married to Joseph Herbert Rainey in Carlsbad, New Mexico. She came to Artesia in 1944 from Iowa. He preceded her in death Aug. 20, 1979. She was a homemaker and member of Living Water Baptist Church in Chaparral. She was preceded in death by parents. Survivors include son Joseph Eugene Rainey of Artesia, NM; daughters Rhonda Lynette Terrel of Chaparral, Luralee Georgeanne Nix of Indianapolis, Indiana and Rebecca Sue Beidler of Chaparral; sisters Pauline Wills of Wilmington, Ohio, and Jo Dodson of Hiawatha, Iowa; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
