Ruth Lewis

Services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 4, at West Main Baptist Church for Ruth Ann Lewis of Artesia, New Mexico. PMrs. Lewis, 89, died Friday, August 31, 2007 at Artesia General Hospital. PJason Kraft will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. PVisitation will be at Terpening amp; Son Mortuary Monday beginning at 4:00 p.m. PMrs. Lewis was born February 18, 1918 in Joplin, Missouri; the daughter of George Washington Hock and Samantha McClain Hock. POn December 23, 1937 she was married to George Walker Lewis in Carlsbad, N.M. She came to Artesia in 1937 from Missouri. He preceded her in death February 18, 1984. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and four sisters. PShe was a Dietician for Artesia General Hospital. She retired from the hospital in 1979 after 35 years of service. She was a member of West Main Baptist Church, loved to hunt arrowheads and pottery, and her quilting.
Survivors include her son James Walker Lewis and wife Karis of Odessa, Texas; daughter Jane Howard and husband Harvey of Artesia; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
