No services are scheduled for Russel Kenneth Wagoner of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Wagoner, 81, died Saturday, August 12, 2017 at his home in Artesia.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary.

Russell was born March 4, 1936 in Blue Hill, Nebraska to Kenneth Dale Wagoner and Mary Evelyn (Martin) Wagoner.

He served his county in the United States Army from 1959 - 1965.

On June 9, 1984 he was married to Dana Lynn Smith in Springer, N.M. She preceded him in death in 2011. He was also preceded in death by his parents.

He has lived in Artesia several times before moving here for good in 2004 from Aztec, New Mexico. Russell worked as a maintenance man for Bloomfield School District and then became a Correctional Officer. He enjoyed working crossword puzzles and watching football and other sports. His love in his life was his family.

Russell was survived by his daughters Michele Wagoner, Kimberly Valenzuela both of Cimarron, N.M., and Riannon Wagoner of Artesia; son Dale Wagoner and wife Brenda of Las Vegas, N.M.; brother Joel Wagoner of Blue HIll, Nebraska; 5 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
