Russel D. Boyd, 70, of Artesia, NM, passed away Aug 17, 2023 at his home in Artesia.

Russell attended school in Artesia and acquired his GED in January of 1972. He enlisted in the Army shortly afterwards and upon completing basic training, he reported for duty in Guam. While in the Army, he received numerous commendations along with Certifications in Army Missile and Munitions Storage and Mortician Assistant.

After serving in the Army, Russell came back to Artesia and went to work in the oilfield. He worked as a Roustabout and drilling deck hand for several years. As he got older, he developed a free spirit and decided to travel. While on his adventure, he worked as a ranch hand, roofer, construction helper and grounds keeper.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents Clarence R Boyd and Ella L Hartley, Sister Annette Morgan and Husband Ernie.

He is survived by a younger brother Kenneth Boyd of Texas, niece Tammy Brown and husband Steven of Wolfforth, TX and nephew Richard Morgan and wife Kim of Mayhill, NM.

Russell was a kind and gentle soul who often went out of his way to help anyone in need. Those whose lives he touched will miss him greatly. Graveside services will be held at a later date.
