Services were held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 5, at Terpening Son Chapel for Ruperto B. Verdoza, 605 W. Texas Ave., Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Verdoza, 67, died Monday, September 4, 2006 at his home. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening Son Mortuary. Mr. Verdoza was born March 27, 1939 in San Juan, Chihuahua, Mexico; the son of Agapito Verdoza and Rosalia Baeza Verdoza. On Jan. 13, 1960 he was married to Mary Sanchez in Ft. Stockton, TX. He came to Artesia in July 1994 from Ft. Stockton. He was a Bricklayer and member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. He was always the life of the party, he loved to dance, sing and spend time with his grandchildren, and also fishing, hunting and gardening. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers. Survivors include his wife Mary Verdoza of the family home; sons Jimmy Verdoza of Phoenix, Arizona, Robert Verdoza of Las Cruces, N.M., and Orlando Verdoza of Dallas, Texas; daughters Velma Cano of Hobbs, N.M., and Velda Verdoza of Artesia; brothers Marcelino Galindo of Artesia, Thomas Verdoza of Phoenix, and Angel Verdoza of Phoenix; sisters Virginia Valencia of Artesia, Dominga Ramirez of Odessa, Texas, and Prajedes Verdoza of Chihuahua, Mexico; 11 grandchildren Tiffany Verdoza, Jonathan Verdoza, Jimmy Ray Verdoza, Sabrina Verdoza, LaVelda Verdoza Victoria Verdoza, Lunicia Cano, Mark Verdoza, Ray Verdoza, Christina Verdoza, and Marcus Verdoza.
