Ruby Gooch

July 23, 1927 — June 10, 2005

Ruby Mae Gooch, 78 of Midland, Texas passed away June, 10, 2005 after a long illness. Mrs. Gooch was born July 23, 1927 in McCamey, Texas to Walter Loy and Nannie Elizabeth Crouch who preceded her in death. On July 20, 1947 she married John C. Gooch who also preceded her in death on May 7, 1993. Two brothers and four sisters preceded her in death: T. J. Crouch; J. C. Crouch; Lois Downey Stitch; Leeola Downey; Lorene Harper; and Jean Gray Stoop. A long time resident of Artesia and Tatum, New Mexico she had resided in Midland for the past five years since moving from Tatum. She enjoyed oil painting, dancing and gospel singing. She was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church while residing in Tatum. Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Belyeu and husband Randle of Brenham, Texas and Glenda MacGregor of Midland; three sisters Altha Crouch of Albuquerque, N.M.; Frances Giles and husband Bud of Clovis, N.M.; and Peggy Rounds of Roswell, N.M.; a special friend and companion, Ben Vann, of Odessa, Texas; four grandchildren, Christi Belyeu Bond and husband Ragan of Brenham, Texas; Shami Nickels and husband Gerald of Midland; Shelly Belyeu Rogers and husband Gary of Brenham; and John Tye MacGregor and wife Natalie of Midland. She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild: Alex, Madalyn and Caraline Bond; Starla, Tera, Trista and Jared Nickels; Cody and John Austin Rogers and Justin, Katey, Bryleigh and Bryce MacGregor; and great-great granddaughter Nevaeh Terry. She was, also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Terpening Son Mortuary with a final resting place at the Woodbine Cemetery located in Artesia. Visitation will be held Monday, June 13 from 4:00 pm-8:00 pm and Tuesday, June 14 from 8:30 am -1:00 pm with services at 2:00 pm Tuesday at the Terpening Son Mortuary. The service will be officiated by Pastor Peggy White and Brother Don McNurlin. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Harper, Vernon Harper, Donnie Hampton, Dwayne Downey, Rod Downey, and Bud Giles. The family requests in lieu of floral tributes that memorials be given to Home Hospice, 901 West Missouri in Midland, Texas 79701 or to a charity of choice. The family would also like to express their appreciation for all the cards, flowers and prayers during Mrs. Gooch's illness. The matriarch of our family will be deeply missed. Ruby was dearly loved by all of her family and friends.
